Ohiwa Harbour – a vast aquatic playground

During your stay at Ohiwa Beach Holiday Park, you will be able to make the most of the beautiful Ohiwa harbour - right on your doorstep. It offers incredible wildlife, rich history, superb scenery and wonderful attractions in its 11km of ocean beach and 85km of shoreline.

Glow worms- Directly adjoining the Ohiwa Beach Holiday Park is a beautyful bush walk that at night leads to a large glow worm grotto just a short walk from your accommodation.

Located on the eastern shores of Ohiwa HarbourOhiwa Beach Holiday Park guests enjoy a range of aquatic activities from swimming and shellfish collecting to boating and fishing, all only metres from their Ohope Beach accommodation.

Fishing – Surfcast directly off the beach or into the harbour entrance. Mountain Biking – The Motu trails offers four unique trails, from easy going Dune trails to the advanced downhill enthusiast option of the Pakihi track with other options including the Motu road trail and Loop trail. The Opotiki region has some of the best mountain biking on offer in New Zealand. White Water Kayaking – White water kayaking is popular in the Motu and Waioeka rivers.

Historic Opotiki – Visit all or just some of the 26 historic buildings and places while in Opotiki. The Opotiki Museum had a new building open in December 2008 and is well worth visiting. All items have been collected locally and give a wonderful insight into the hardships of yesteryear.

Boating – A two-lane, concrete boat ramp (easily accessible in all tides) allows you to take your boat out on the water for a day of fun and sunshine. Make use of water skiing lanes, or simply throw your line out and catch a few fish for dinner. Designated jet skiing areas are also available.
