Ohiwa Walking Tracks

Around our area there are a number of scenic walking tracks with spectacular ocean views and beautiful native bush. These can be used for either walking, jogging and in the case of the Ohiwa Walkway, cycling too.

Park walk

The beginning of Park walking track is only metres from the nearest campsites. This track links up with the Ohiwa Nature Trail & the Onekawa Pa site / Bryans Beach Loop track which are covered below. Panoramic views of Ohiwa Harbour are available amongst a superb example of native coastal trees and shrubs.

The Ohiwa Nature Trail

The Ohiwa Nature Trail is a pleasant 30 minute walk that takes you through the bush and includes a waterfall and Glow Worm Grotto then onto the Historic Onekawa pa site (maori war fortiforcation site). This pa site offers superb Pacific Ocean and White Island views. It is a great place to relax and read about the history of the area in a peaceful farmland and bush setting.  Be sure to sign the visitor’s book.

Bryans Beach Loop Track

Once at the Historic Onekawa pa site there is an option to continue the walk down to Bryans Beach and back to the camp along the beach.  This walk will take you anywhere from 65 minutes to 1 and a half hours depending on your fitness level and time you have available.  You will be rewarded with beautiful views and an uncrowded stretch of beach.

The walkway takes in all the beauty of the Ohiwa Harbour and is available within metres of the park.
